The Premier responds

Premier Michael Dunkley

Dear Sir,

I appreciate the opportunity to provide the other side of the story about a letter in your December 15 issue, “When work doesn’t pay”, in which Michael Harvey advocated for a person who claims to have not been paid by the Department of Health Insurance.

I was contacted about the issue and in the letter by Mr Harvey, he was critical that I had not resolved it.

The point that needs to be made is this: I responded to a message shortly after being contacted, saying I required information to get to the bottom of the situation.

You cannot investigate a person’s complaint without accurate and detailed information, and permission from the person allowing you to act on their behalf.

I am always willing to work with people to resolve any specific issue they may have, and in this case this is a serious allegation.

Mr Harvey, we can help the person in question, but I need information to make it happen.

MICHAEL H. DUNKLEY

Premier of Bermuda
