An apology to the Leader of the Opposition

OBA MP Leah Scott (File photograph)

Dear Sir,

In my recent opinion piece regarding the tenuousness of Bermuda’s status as an offshore financial centre, I articulated, based on facts that I had to hand, that the Opposition leader had become a lawbreaker, by not allowing members access to the House of Assembly.

It has been brought to my attention by the Opposition leader that this was not the case, and that he was trying to protect members of the public from the attacks of the riot police, and not impede access.

In light of his much appreciated clarification, I retract my comment that he was a lawbreaker, and I thank him for bringing this to my attention so that I can rectify my comments.

LEAH SCOTT

The Royal Gazette supports Ms Scott’s retraction and apologises to the Opposition leader for any hurt caused
