Island can be proud of Dolphin Quest honour

Dolphin Quest

Dear Sir,

Residents should feel proud to learn that Dolphin Quest, one of Bermuda’s most popular and beloved attractions, has achieved certification for the treatment of its animals by the global American Humane Conservation programme — joining an elite group of zoos, aquariums and conservation centres worldwide to earn this prestigious seal of approval.

The American Humane Conservation programme is an ambitious, first-of-its-kind initiative that uses rigorous, evidence-based standards — developed by an independent scientific advisory committee of world-renowned animal behaviourists, veterinarians and ethicists, among other leading experts — to help to ensure the welfare and humane treatment of animals living in the world’s zoos, aquariums and conservation centres.

The certification helps to assure the public that the animals living in these institutions are healthy, positively social, active, safe and living with proper light, sound, air and heat levels.

Bermuda locals and tourists from around the world can now experience the excitement of a visit to Dolphin Quest with the peace of mind that comes from knowing the animals there are living under high standards of verifiable humane care.
