Perhaps media, not Trump, is attacking truth

Media attacks: Donald Trump

Dear Sir,

As one who otherwise agrees with Robert Pires, I find it puzzling that he began his recent letter in defence of businesses against progressive government by lamenting our times to be one of “Trumpian attacks on truth and the media”.

Is he unaware that the NFIB small business optimism index in the United States is at a record high? Is he unaware that every significant US stock market index is at a record high? Is he unaware that Barack Obama’s politics were described by American CEOs as akin to “waterboarding” and led to a record number of companies redomiciling beyond the US to escape them?

Mr Pires is surely cognisant that the media can lie by omission, as he says he “find[s] The Royal Gazette quite slack in not surveying Bermuda’s business point of view with respect to the consequence of this government on the future prospects for their businesses”.

Perhaps it is the media, and not President Donald Trump, who are thereby attacking truth?

How else could Mr Pires be blind to the very frustration with progressive government he expresses being what brought about the presidency of Donald J. Trump?

“Many did not attend because of the antagonistic nature of those forums.”

Behold the origin of America’s silent majority.

Praise Kek.
