I must respond to Belco’s full-page advertisement in The Royal Gazette, at $3,340 per page, trying to defend its poor investment strategy over the past 20 years. If it has invested $350 million over the past 20 years, it invested very poorly.

All executives and board directors should resign. Bermuda should not be in this position when it comes to an electricity grid. Buy five new generators — the most powerful, technologically advanced and fuel-efficient.

Issue new shares or do a bond offering to finance it. Make sure senior management and the board of directors understand the business, and have the degrees and work experience to run the business.

Don’t blame the customer for bad management and incompetence.
