Dear Sir,

It is truly sad to see grown men behaving like schoolboys. We all know what Donald Trump’s message is: respect for the flag and for the national anthem being played. His messages get mixed, but he would agree that you can demonstrate your opinion.

It is unfortunate, however, that he cannot express his passionate feelings without using offensive language, which ends up inflaming different social groups. It would seem he does so just for the fun of it.

The more unfortunate spectacle on my Sunday’s TV watching was that the regular rabble-rousers jumped at the chance to get on the wagon and throw in their conflicting problems, with demonstrations. So we end up getting nowhere and creating yet again another crack in the democracy of the world, and wasting thousands of hours of valuable time.

One wants to say: “Grow up.” We all hear bad language and we all see and hear by the hour cherry-picking of others’ opinions, debating for hour upon hour. It all seems so petty.

Could we not go to debating the crucial problems we face in this country? People are drowning literally and metaphorically, and need help in the field.

Men and women have gone to war and given their lives to allow us the privilege to debate and to disagree. Let us hope, therefore, that we guard that right and not waste valuable time.
