The former Rustico restaurant in Flatts is to get a new lease of life.

For the owners of the successful Devil’s Isle restaurant and bar in Hamilton are to branch out with a new family-friendly venture set to open in August.

Holger Eiselt, managing director of Take Five Ltd, which operates Devil’s Isle, said: “It will be a restaurant similar to Devil’s Isle, but with a family feel and a different atmosphere.”

Mr Eiselt added: “We will be offering clean food, healthy drinks and a similar cocktail, wine and beer selection to Devil’s Isle and with Devil’s Isle coffee.

“There will also be an outside play area for the kids.”

The building, in the heart of Flatts Village, became vacant earlier this year when Rustico’s moved to larger premises at Brightside Guest Apartments a few hundred yards away.

The Village Pantry aims to be open seven days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Mr Eiselt said: “Flatts can definitely support two restaurants.

“It’s going to be family-friendly, but there will be sections in the restaurant that will be attractive for people who go out without kids.”
