This will take place during the fall term break, which begins on October 22.

The event will be held at the offices of Bermuda Economic Development on the first floor of Sofia House at 48 Church Street, Hamilton.

Participants will be aged between 15 and 18 and they will focus on the creating presentations for the BEDC Global Entrepreneurship Week’s Youth Rocket Pitch Competition.

The top presentations will receive business start-up funding and other services provided by BEDC. To learn more about this competition go to: https://gew.bm/what-is-the-rocket-pitch-competition/.

There is no cost to attend the YEI’s BizCamp, thanks to support from the Department of ICT Policy & Innovation, the Bank of Bermuda Foundation, Tokio Millennium Re, Chubb Charitable Foundation, XL/Catlin Foundation, Argo Foundation, and One Communications.

Each day will begin at 9.30am and wrap up at 2.30pm. Lunch and snacks are provided. Participants must bring their own laptops, which will be needed to produce a PowerPoint presentation and which must have access to the internet through wi-fi.

Participants will use a customised workbook, conduct online research, hear from guest lecturers and conduct field-based market research all designed to develop their own comprehensive business pitch. Participants will learn about opportunity recognition, cost of goods, pricing, marketing and many other aspects of running a company.

The objective is for each to present their own Rocket Pitch on the final day.
