The Progressive Labour Party has paid thanks to those who supported its “We Care Women’s Tea” event over the weekend.

The initiative, at the Heritage Worship Centre, raised money for families in need in memory of PLP stalwart Marita Thompson.

Organiser Simone Smith-Bean, the wife of Marc Bean, the Leader of the Opposition, said in a statement: “Marc and I are so grateful for the way the community has embraced this cause and given their time and donated goods toward strengthening this initiative.

“We encourage members of the public to contact PLP headquarters on 292-2264 to assist wherever you are able.”
