Why come to Bermuda? It is awesome!

The Pino family: repeat visitors across decades (Photograph supplied)

For the Pino family, Bermuda is the holiday that never lost its charm.

It’s almost 30 years since Dominic and Cheryl Pino, of West Chester, Pennsylvania, asked Kenny Bascome to take their picture at Tobacco Bay.

Now the junior tourism minister is “invited to my son’s wedding”, Mr Pino said.

“It’s been 28 years in a row that we have come to Bermuda; we’re enjoying every year more and more.

“Why go to the same place 28 times? I’d say that answers the question,” Mr Pino told The Royal Gazette.

“We really, really love it. The island is awesome.”

They prefer St George’s, “away from the hustle and bustle”, as a base for “everything possible”, he said — caves, jet skiing, spa, boat rentals, snorkelling, and getting around by moped.

“We’ve seen some changes, with some things I wish were back to the way they were first,” Mr Pino said. “The island stays unique.”

The Pino posse has grown significantly since 1988, with three sons bringing along a girlfriend and a fiancée for the latest trip.

“I think I’m drawing the line at seven people,” Mr Pino said.
