Top entertainment lined up for Heroes Weekend

Organisers of the third annual Bermuda Heroes Weekend have mapped out the events which will take place between January 6-8.

It begins with the The Fete on Friday, January 6 at the lower level of Pier 6. DJ’s Barrie Hype and Ryan Sayeed will be returning to the island and will join Mr General out of the UK. They will be playing alongside local DJ’s D’General, DJ Rusty G & DJ Burge. A special guest artist will also be performing.

The following day, January 7, will see the Panel Discussion featuring both local and international entrepreneurs, artists, DJs, and costume designers. And The Gala will be held on Saturday night at the Blu Bar & Grill at the Belmont Hills Golf Course.

On Sunday, January 8 at the Fairmount Southampton, a presentation of costumes for each of the seven bands participating in Parade of Bands 2017 will take place. The BHW Launch will begin at 5.00pm.

Bermuda Heroes Weekend is a series of events organised by the BHW Ltd team which is “dedicated to providing unique cultural experiences and quality entertainment.”

This year the event won the Best of Bermuda Award for “Cultural Event of the Year”.

“Team members are not only avid carnival-goers but, collectively, have over 15 years’ experience producing successful events and have gained the respect of some of the top celebrities in the world of soca music,” said a BHW statement.

“Bermuda Heroes Weekend is now entering into its third year and is one of the most talked about carnivals on the international circuit,” said president Jason Sukdeo. “A lot of planning and preparation goes into the entire weekend and we are thrilled to showcase what we have in store for 2017.

“We are encouraging members of the public to attend the at least one of the events to learn more about the bands, see the costumes and educate themselves on how they can be involved in the growing of Bermuda’s Carnival.”

The committee includes president Jason Sukdeo, Nalton Brangman, Jumaane Davis, Sandra Vance and Akbar Lightbourne.
