About 40 participants took part in a charity walk to raise money to support insurance-related studies for young Bermudians. The 13th annual event — from Somerset Bridge to the Swizzle Inn in Bailey’s Bay — was co-ordinated locally by JLT Specialty Bermuda and Willis Towers Watson.

“It went great,” Kyle Adams, of JLT Specialty Bermuda, told The Royal Gazette. “We had a beautiful day today and we had a record number of participants in the walk.”

Mr Adams pointed out that the walk is for a “very good cause”, supporting Bermudians studying the risk management and insurance programme at Georgia State University.

“It’s been a very successful programme,” Mr Adams said, adding that a number of Bermudians have graduated, with more now attending.

The annual event was founded in 2004 by Gary Meggs, of Southern Company and Greg McCollister, of McGriff, Seibels & Williams.

So far, the fund has awarded $172,000 in undergraduate scholarships.
