About 200 people were able to get hot meals at a post-Christmas and New Year dinner.

The event at the Open Door Christian Assembly Church Hall in Southside was organised last Sunday by police officers from the Eastern Community Action Team, St George’s Parish Council and Kenny’s Kitchen.

It was open to members of the St George’s and St David’s communities, with a meal delivery service for those who could not attended.

Constable Terry Paynter, who has organised the event since its inception, said in a press release: “Approximately 200 meals were served to area residents by volunteers from the St George’s Parish Council and Kenny’s Kitchen through this year’s initiative.

“Members of the Bermuda Police Service Eastern Community Action Team also give of their time every year to make the event a success. I would like to thank all involved for their combined efforts and look forward to working with everyone again next year.”
