Scott begins work as CTO for Commission

Wayne Scott

Former Minister of Education Wayne Scott has begun working for the Bermuda Casino Gaming Commission as their Chief Technical Officer after he stepped down from the Cabinet.

Richard Schuetz, executive director of the commission, confirmed the hiring on Friday, describing Mr Scott as the best man for the job.

In a statement, Mr Schuetz said the position was publicly advertised and received many applications, including 16 Bermudians and three spouses of Bermudians.

“In keeping with our commitment to create jobs for Bermudians, we chose not to interview any of the non-Bermudian candidates,” Mr Schuetz said.

“Of the applicants who applied, nine people were invited for interviews with one candidate withdrawing before we met with him or her.

“We then interviewed the remaining eight and brought three of those candidates back for a second interview.”

“The review panel for all interviews was composed of commissioner Judith Hall Bean, myself, the Commission’s chief financial officer Julie Grant and a technological adviser from one of the big four accounting firms on the island.

“All four of us reviewers ranked Mr Scott as number one in both rounds of interviews. It must be said, we have gone out of our way to hire a Bermudian and believe we have found the best candidate in Mr Scott.”

As CTO, Mr Schuetz said Mr Scott would be responsible for maintaining all electronic processes within the commission and ensure compliance.
