Minister for Social Developmebnt and Sport Nandi Outerbridge has announced the fundraiser for the Mirrors Programme anniversary celebrations

The Mirrors Programme is hosting a tag day next Wednesday to raise funds for the charity’s 10-year anniversary festivities and programming initiatives.

Minister of social development and sports Nandi Outerbridge announced that the charity would run the event in partnership with Mirrors Alumni and Friends Association.

Mirrors and its alumni board will be holding a series of events during the summer months.

Celebrations begin with an art and digital competition for budding artists from elementary through to high school. The exhibition will be held at Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art on July 21 through August 16.

The show will open with a corporate key stakeholder social on July 21. Individual prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place at elementary, middle and high school levels.

Submissions will be judged by a panel of three and the prize presentation ceremony will take place on Thursday, September 14.

Following that there will be a Youth Explosion and Mirrors volunteer and participant reunion on Saturday, July 22 at Victoria Park that will highlight youth self-expression through performing arts, spoken word, past participant inspirational speeches and interactive activities. It will bring together those who have participated in the programme or volunteered with Mirrors in the past.

In addition to 10-year celebrations, the organisation is expanding programming this year. Mirrors will host two Junior Forum SuperCamp programmes for middle school students in partnership with Quantum Learning Network in addition to its Community Programme for 15 to 18-year-olds.

Mirrors Programme and its alumni board are calling for volunteers to help on May 17 tagging at different venues across the island. Those available to support the organisation with the tag day can call the Mirrors office on 294-9291 and speak with Cally Blankendal or e-mail mirrors@gov.bm.
