A video depicting a planned pedestrian bridge over Flatts Inlet has been placed online.

The computer-generated video, put together by Peter Carfoot at Linberg & Simmons Architects for The Friends of the Bermuda Railway Trail, was published on YouTube on June 21.

It shows the proposed pedestrian path crossing over North Shore Road, near Gibbet Island, before continuing over the inlet.

The video also simulates what the bridge would look like to motorists travelling along North Shore Road and from the air.

Publicly available plans for the project state that the bridge and the approach will be set at 22ft 6in and will provide 20ft of clearance through Flatts Inlet at high water, similar to Watford Bridge.

The bridge over North Shore Road will provide a minimum 16ft 6in clearance for vehicles travelling along the road in accordance with recommendations from the Highways Section of Public Works.

The Friends of the Bermuda Railway Trail project has already seen new bridges installed at Store Hill and Bailey’s Bay as well as a raft of upgrades to the trail across the island.
