Police name crash victim, second man in ICU after road accident

Police this morning named the victim of a crash over the weekend as 33-year-old German national Christopher Nagel.Meanwhile another man was this morning in a critical condition in intensive care after a crash today.A Police spokesman said: "The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of Christoph Nagel. Mr Nagel, a German national and Bermuda resident, sustained serious injuries when the motorcycle he was riding went over an embankment in the South Road, Paynters Road Hamilton Prish area around 2am on Sunday."The spokesman added: "Members of the public quickly came to Mr Nagel's assistance and performed CPR before EMTs arrived and continued CPR at the scene."However, despite this and being rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance, he was subsequently pronounced dead at the hospital by an on call doctor at 3am on Sunday."In the other accident, a 22-year-old man was injured after a crash at 2.15am on Palmetto Road in Devonshire, near the junction with Aeolia Drive."It appears that a motorcycle was traveling along Palmetto Road when it went off the road. The rider, a 22-year-old Devonshire man, was found at the scene in an unresponsive state and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment," the spokesman said."At last check he was in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit. Inquiries into this incident are ongoing and any witnesses or anyone with any information is encouraged to contact Pc Wayne Sealy on 295-0011."
