A team from the Bermuda Institute has taken the plunge with Dive Bermuda — with the students now certified to dive anywhere in the world.

Chervonne Hodsoll, J’Mae Ferguson, Julienn Clarke, Stefan Simons, Gabriel Furbert and Kyle Symons were “great”, according to lead instructor Matt Noel.

Everyone starts out diving with beginner’s nerves, but they “handled all the tasks we threw at them — they should be justifiably proud of their accomplishment”, the instructor added.

The training covered the fundamentals of diving — mask and regulator clearing, underwater use of buoyancy devices, removing and replacing equipment underwater, use of underwater diving tables and general safety skills.

“It’s surprising that in Bermuda which has such amazing diving that more people don’t enjoy diving,” Mr Noel said.

“Hopefully more will follow the lead of these guys.”
