Tropical Depression Emily is expected to pass to the island’s northwest on the first day of Cup Match.

While the system is still considered a potential threat to the island, it is not expected to return to tropical storm strength before passing Bermuda.

According to the Bermuda Weather Service, Tropical Depression Emily is expected to make its closest point of approach to the island at 6pm on Thursday, passing 247 nautical miles north-northwest of Bermuda.

As of 6pm, the system had passed over Florida and was still 672 nautical miles west-southwest of Bermuda, with meteorologists suspecting it might become a post-tropical by late tomorrow afternoon.

Bermuda is expected to see some showers on Thursday along with moderate southwesterly winds, with conditions improving for the second day of Cup Match.
