Water Safety Council seminar

The Bermuda Water Safety Council will host its fourth annual October Practical Safety Seminar aboard a fast ferry later this month.

The seminar, a hands-on programme for local boaters to learn basic safety practices and emergency procedures, will cover marine communications and procedures for emergency radio calls.

It will also include safe speed for night boating, safe navigating at night and safe use of flares and rockets.

The Council reminded boaters to drop off outdated flares and rockets in the flares bin at the Tynes Bay waste facility in Devonshire or e-mail Michael Hayward at boat36@logic.bm

The seminar on October 22 is limited to 60 people and reservations will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.

The ferry will depart from Albuoy’s Point in Hamilton at 7pm and tickets cost $10.

Payment must be made by cash or cheque only and children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.

A rain date has been set for October 29.
