Man dies after falling off North Shore cliff edge

A man who died yesterday after falling from a cliff along North Shore was subsequently named by police as Stephen Proctor.

Mr Proctor, 67, fell overboard off a sharp incline, right, along North Shore Road, Pembroke, near the junction with Berkeley Road, at about 11.45am.

Foul play was not suspected, according to a police spokesman, who appealed for anyone with information on Mr Proctor’s whereabouts in the hours before the incident to assist.

Witnesses or anyone with information was asked to call the main police number, 295-0011. Despite CPR administered at the scene, Mr Proctor was later pronounced dead at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

A family liaison officer has been assigned to assist Mr Proctor’s family.
