The family of a young Bermudian who was murdered in England have set up a GoFundMe page to cover his funeral costs and bring his body home.

Lyrico Steede, 17, was stabbed in the Bulwell area of Nottingham 11 days ago and died of his injuries on Monday.

Lyrico, who had been attending college in the area, was chased and attacked by a group of people at about 7.30pm on February 13.

He had lived in the country for five years.

A Nottinghamshire police spokesman said Mr Steede moved to the area aged 12 to stay with family.

According to the family fundraiser, he had gone to join his sister, Lyric, and their father, Jermaine.

While he had been “doing very well”, the page said he missed his mother, Keishaye, and sisters Lexxs and Legecy.

Known as Rico, he was the couple’s only son.

“Lyrico was an extremely quiet, but happy and humble child. He has been this way since birth,” the statement continued, calling him a true “Mama’s boy”.

His mother had only recently packed up her life in Bermuda and moved to Britain.

“We anxiously want to bring Rico home and give him the funeral that he deserves, which is surrounded by his family and his childhood friends.”

Police in Nottingham, which has a small community of Bermudians, continue to appeal for information on the attack.
