Lightning storms cut power to nearly 800 homes on Tuesday night.

A total of 738 residents in the Evan’s Bay area of Southampton were left in the dark about 10.30pm, but power was restored less than an hour later.

In addition, 61 people lost power in the Devil’s Hole area of Smith’s about the same time.

A spokeswoman for power firm Belco said crews were working to replace a transformer and that electricity was scheduled to be back on by yesterday afternoon.

The Bermuda Weather Service website said today would be sunny with a chance of showers in the afternoon, with sunnier weather into the weekend.
