ITU Gold Coast Grand Final live!

Running hot: Vicky Holland may be the second-ranked woman going into the Grand Final but is many people's favourite to unseat Katie Zaferes and succeed the injured Flora Duffy as world champion (File photograph by Wagner Araujo/ITU Media)

The International Triathlon Union season reaches its climax this weekend with the Grand Final on the Gold Coast in Australia, and The Royal Gazette will be again on hand to bring it to you live. The events of the weekend will provide a sneak preview into what Bermuda can expect after winning the right to host the Grand Final in 2021. That event is expected to mark Flora Duffy's bow from the elite level of the sport. Hopefully, by that time, she will also have added to Bermuda's select list of Olympic medal-winners.But on to the here and now.More than 5,000 of the world's best elite and age-group triathletes are in Queensland for the final race of the 2018 season.Athletes representing 46 nations will be competing at Southport Broadwater Parklands, the site of the highly successful ITU World Triathlon Gold Coast and home to the 2009 ITU World Championships. The Grand Final celebrates the diversity of the sport of triathlon, with athletes competing in elite, under-23, junior and elite Paratriathlon categories, as well as in under-23 and junior mixed team relay, and age group over the standard and sprint distances. We will bring you both the women's and men's elite races live! The women race on Saturday at 3.06pm local time, which is 2.06am in Bermuda — Queensland is 13 hours ahead. The men will race at the same time on Sunday. They will travel over the standard distance of 1,500 metres swim, 40 kilometres bike and 10km run.The women's title will be a straight shoot-out between series leader Katie Zaferes and Vicky Holland to see who succeeds Flora Duffy as world champions.Zaferes, the American, holds a 34-point lead over Holland, but the Englishwoman can be said to be the favourite heading into the Grand Final after successive series wins in Edmonton and Montreal.Mario Mola, of Spain, merely needs to finish in the top ten to secure his third straight men's series title. As in each of our previous events, both races will be available for replay after a certain period.Enjoy!Women[naviga:iframe id=ls_embed_1536889776 src=https://livestream.com/accounts/26975642/events/8368793/player?width=630&height=360&enableInfoAndActivity=true&defaultDrawer=&autoPlay=true&mute=false width=100% height=360 frameborder=0 scrolling=no allowfullscreen] [/naviga:iframe]Men[naviga:iframe id=ls_embed_1536889851 src=https://livestream.com/accounts/26975642/events/8368795/player?width=630&height=360&enableInfoAndActivity=true&defaultDrawer=&autoPlay=true&mute=false width=100% height=360 frameborder=0 scrolling=no allowfullscreen] [/naviga:iframe]
