‘Impaired’ driver arrested after pedestrian is left in critical condition

A woman is in a critical condition after being involved in a road traffic collision last night.
A police spokesman said officers and other first responders were called to the junction of Cedar Avenue and Angle Street in Hamilton at about 7.10pm.
Information suggested that a female pedestrian and a male car driver were involved in a collision.
The woman was found unresponsive and taken to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment to her injuries, which were described as very serious.
The motorist was arrested on suspicion of driving while impaired and for driving while disqualified from all vehicles.
