HSBC Bermuda had the opportunity to once again say “thank you” to The Salvation Army for the continued positive impact they make in our community, by way of the Bank’s annual donation.

Presenting the $10,000 award to Major Sandra Stokes of The Salvation Army was Tony Joaquin, the HSBC chairman and Steve Banner, the CEO, said: “At this time of year many of us become more acutely aware of the obvious gaps between those fortunate enough to enjoy having extra over the holiday season and those who are struggling.

“Making this donation is extremely important to all of us here at HSBC, as we are committed to giving back to the island in ways that have meaningful outcomes for individuals and families in need of assistance.

“In addition to this donation a number of our employees will be volunteering for the Salvation Army’s ‘Christmas Kettle Campaign’ on December 19 and 21 at the Reid Street entrance of the HSBC Harbourview Building. This will be another opportunity for all of us to contribute in our own small way.”

Major Sandra Stokes of the Salvation Army said: “I believe that this season is a time of joy and love expressed with community helping community.

“When companies such as HSBC assist us in this way, the impact this has on deserving individuals cannot be underestimated.

She added: “As of last Friday afternoon over 1200 families had registered for Christmas assistance.

“The funds raised through our Letter of Appeal and Christmas Kettle Campaign will be used both during this holiday season and throughout the year.

“Our aim is to raise $500,000. to meet the needs of Bermudians and so we are extremely grateful to HSBC for their generosity.”
