Problems with 911 number

The 911 emergency number was out of service after a power outage at the police communications centre today.

Technology at the Prospect base was disrupted for several hours because the fire system was triggered at about 6am.

Police said the 911 number had been restored this afternoon, but technicians were still working to restore service to the main police telephone number 295-0011.

A spokesman said: “The situation is being addressed as a priority and the public will be informed when service is fully restored.

“The BPS apologises for any inconvenience caused and we thank the public for their understanding while repairs are carried out.”
