Simmons replaces Wade as PLP chair
The Progressive Labour Party has elected its first female party chair.
A PLP spokeswoman announced that Dawn Simmons was elected to fill the post at the reconvening of the party’s Annual Delegates’ Conference on Monday night.
She added that Steven Robinson was elected to fill the role of Assistant Organiser, Central, while Tulani Bulford will fill the role of Assistant Organiser, West.
“While the PLP has had three female party leaders, we must note that Ms Simmons will be the first female chair of the party, and we congratulate her on this achievement,” the spokeswoman said.
