Car Boot sale bargains to be had

Grab a bargain at the Peace Lutheran Church’s Car Boot Sale on Saturday, August 19th.

This will run from 9am until 2pm and promises lots of great bargains in clothes, shoes, children’s and baby clothes, toys, household goods, DVDs, CDs, books, jewellery and lots more. You can even enjoy a cup of coffee and a hot dog while shopping.

Promising nothing but the best in old school reggae, dancehall, culture, lover’s rock and dubplates- Smirnoff, Heineken, and Johnnie Walker Present: Old School Reggae Cruise Pt. 6 on Saturday, August 19th.

Early boarding is from 7pm until 7.30pm in Dockyard, and then from 8.30pm until 9pm at Albuoy’s Point, aboard Calico Jack’s floating bar.

From 9pm until Midnight, you’ll party to music provided by OGS Genesis, Stalwart, Supatone, Lenky Boy – plus a special 90s style performance from Bermudian artist, Corvin Melody who will sing his biggest songs on original riddims.

Promising to be more than just a cruise, all guests will receive a complimentary welcome drink, and there will be Smirnoff, Heineken, and Johnny Walker specials all night as well as other branded giveaways.

Unleash your creativity with Bermuda’s natural resources at the Annual Bermuda Sand Castle Competition on Saturday, September 2nd.

Sign in starts at 9.30am at the usual location of beautiful Horseshoe Bay. Sculpting begins at 10am and finishes at 4pm, followed by judging where three judges will pick first, second and third in each category and best overall winner. The categories are Family, Children (12 & under), Teenagers (13-19), or Open\Adult and there will be cash prizes.

Not sure where to start? Take advantage of the free workshops taught on the Saturday, Thursday and Friday nights leading up to the event, at 5pm. Taught by previous winners, they are designed to make sure you have all the tools tips and tricks you need to create something spectacular. True reggae lovers are invited to an all vinyl tribute dance for Mr. Kent Outerbridge, aka Fadda Dub, the founder of Dub City, at A Tribute to Father Dub on Sunday, September 3rd.

From 9pm until 3am under the Big Tent at National Sports Centre, this event is being hosted by Conscious J with musical selections by Magnum Force Int’l, Jones Town Int’l, Black Lion, Reality Sound, Lenky Boy Movement, Dub City Int’l, Blackstar, and Nuclear Weapon. There will also be a special guest appearance/performance by Jamaica’s own reggae legend, Luciano aka JahMessengeJah.

Tickets cost $45 at the gate, $35 for general admission, or $25 for Early Bird tickets (until the end of July), and are available from pTix.bm, Jamaican Grill, Fish N’ Tings or Dub City Variety. Partial proceeds will go towards the Bermuda Diabetes Association.
