PLP criticises ‘political’ CITV broadcast

The Opposition has decried the CITV airing of a segment from Michael Dunkley, the Premier, calling it “blatantly partisan and political messaging”.

The Government station, which largely broadcasts culturally educational content, has drawn protest in the past over political coverage: in the run-up to the 2012 General Election it was criticised by the Opposition of the day, the United Bermuda Party, for not designating Opposition air time.

The Progressive Labour Party statement criticised a broadcast, the Premier’s Youth Message, for reading like “a political advert” for the One Bermuda Alliance.

According to the statement, the same piece runs as advertising on private stations.
