The chief executive office of Bermudian-based PartnerRe, Emmanuel Clarke, has taken over at the helm of the Global Reinsurance Forum.

He succeeded Kevin O’Donnell, CEO of Bermudian-based RenaissanceRe, who completed a two-year term as chairman of GRF.

While Jean-Jacques Henchoz, CEO of Hannover Re, has been elected vice-chairman.

Mr Clarke said: “As businesses, people and governments battle with the Covid-19 situation and its deeper ramifications, the global reinsurance industry has the opportunity and responsibility to leverage its expertise in risk management and resilience building for the benefit of our societies and economies.

“I am excited to take the helm of the GRF at this critical juncture and, on behalf of all members, wish to express my gratitude to Kevin for leading the GRF over the past two years.”

Mr Henchoz said: “It is a privilege to serve as the GRF’s vice-chair. As globalisation is receding and with protectionism on the rise, the Forum’s mission to promote an open and fair framework for global reinsurance markets and raise the understanding of the value of reinsurance to economies and societies, is more important than ever.”

The Global Reinsurance Forum is composed of 12 leading global reinsurers, and its main objective is to promote a stable, innovative and competitive worldwide reinsurance market. The members of the forum represent Axa XL, Gen Re, Hannover Re, Lloyd’s, MAPFRE Re, Munich Re, PartnerRe, RenaissanceRe, RGA, SCOR, Swiss Re and Toa Re.
