This weekend’s Tokio Millennium Re triathlon will celebrate Flora Duffy’s ITU World Triathlon Series title and support the Bermuda Paralympic Association.

The TMR Sprint Triathlon and Duathlon will take place tomorrow starting at Albuoy’s Point. Race organisers intends for the event to celebrate Bermuda’s athletes of all abilities, from those trying triathlon for the first time to Bermuda’s own Duffy, who has again proven to be the best in the world.

Kathleen Faries, head of Bermuda at Tokio Millennium Re, said “Watching Flora Duffy win her second World Triathlon Series championship and listening to the announcers talk about how she has changed the sport technically and dominated the season is so impressive and a proud moment for Bermuda.

“She has dominated the season and set new standards for Women’s Triathlon. Her ability to continue to push herself and perform year after year is simply astounding.

“It is clear that Flora is committed to her goals, continually thinking about tomorrow, knowing that there is always room to improve — values that TMR shares with her.

“Flora is an inspiration for triathletes everywhere. TMR will celebrate her win with all the participants this weekend, and we are extremely excited to support her in person when she competes in the Bermuda World Triathlon Series race in April 2018. We wish all the competitors at our event this weekend a fun and successful race.”

This year, instead of giving trophies and monetary awards, all the race prize money will be donated to the BPA. TMR is a longstanding supporter of Paralympian Jessica Lewis, who has participated in this event in past years. The donation will assist differently able individuals in our community to have the opportunities to fulfil their potential in para-sport.

Events start at 8am at Albouy’s Point with the Junior Duathlon, School Challenge Triathlon, Try-a-Triathlon and the adult individual and team sprint triathlon both starting at 10.
