Social Club no-show hands Stars first title

Dandy Stars became the third team behind North Village and PHC to win the Women’s Futsal League at the Bermuda College Gymnasium at the weekend.

Unbeaten Stars clinched a maiden title during the penultimate round of the season after winning by default over Young Men’s Social Club on Saturday.

It is the second straight year that the championship has been decided in such manner as defending champions PHC won by default over Hamilton Parish last year.

Stars only required a point to clinch the title going into their match with last placed Social Club who were unable to field a team.

The newly crowned league champions will now look to finish the season unbeaten when they face Somerset in their finale fixture this Saturday.

Meanwhile, in the only game played at the weekend, Symira Lowe-Darrell netted seven goals in PHC’s emphatic 11-4 victory over Somerset.

PHC, the three-times defending champions, led 4-2 at the half before opening the floodgates after the break to put the game beyond Somerset’s reach.

Taznae Fubler (two), Kallay Hollis and Micah Pond grabbed PHC’s other goals while Somerset replied through Jya Ratteray- Smith, who netted twice, Tschana Wade and Arzarie Maybury.
