Huddersfield hammered as Tomlin scores two

On a roll: Hall, the Bermuda goalkeeper, has helped Limerick move 12 points clear at the top of the table

Nahki Wells and Huddersfield Town suffered a 4-0 defeat away to Bristol City in the Sky Bet Championship at the weekend.

Jonathan Kodjia met Joe Bryan’s flicked pass to run into the box and open the scoring before the interval, beating Jed Steer, the Huddersfield goalkeeper, with a low finish.

Bryan then made it 2-0 and Kodjia reached 20 goals for the season with a strike from 25 yards.

Lee Tomlin then showed great control to lift the ball over a defender on the edge of the area before adding a fourth.

Rai Simons was an unused substitute in Chesterfield’s 3-0 win at home to Bury in League One.

Jay O’Shea opened the scoring from the penalty spot after Cian Bolger had blocked Gary Liddle’s run into the area.

In first-half stoppage time Lee Novak’s 25-yard strike deflected in to double Chesterfield’s lead.

Dan Gardner then finished off a Chesterfield counter-attack to seal the victory.

In League Two, Reggie Lambe was substituted after 75 minutes for Adi Yussuf in Mansfield’s 1-0 away defeat to Leyton Orient.

Former Mansfield striker Ollie Palmer scored against his old side to secure the win for Orient.

Meanwhile, Danté Leverock’s Harrisburg City Islanders lost 2-1 away to Rochester Rhinos, the United Soccer Leagues defending champions.

Kenardo Forbes opened the scoring in the first half for Rochester with a one-on-one finish past Nick Noble, the Harrisburg goalkeeper.

After the break, Rochester defender Tony Walls sent a cross into the Harrisburg box which Noble punched into the chest of Ryan James who then tapped home.

Substitute Craig Foster pulled a goal back for Harrisburg in the 88th minute after rounding the goalkeeper and slotting home.

Leverock, the Bermuda defender, was substituted in the 73rd minute. The visiting side also had James Thomas sent off late on for two bookable offences.

Freddy Hall’s Limerick continued their blistering start to the SSE Aircity League First Division with a 7-2 victory at home to Waterford United.

John O’Flynn bagged a first half hat-trick as Limerick moved 12 points clear at the top of the table.

Paul O’Conor scored twice, while Stephen Kenny and Chris Mulhall were also on target for the home side.
