Atletico remain undefeated with hard-fought victory

The matches in the Futsal League continue this weekend at Bermuda College

Atletico CP came out with a close 8-6 win over Footy Force in a clash of two undefeated teams on Wednesday in the Futsal League at the Bermuda College gym.

In the first of four games, Atletico and Footy Force battled it out for bragging rights as little separated the sides with Atletico leading 3-2 at half-time.

Atletico scored five more goals in the second half and took a commanding lead in the standings. Sareiko Thomas was voted MVP for Atletico after scoring twice, while Dunya Taylor, the Footy Force MVP, netted a hat-trick.

In the second game there was end-to-end action as Somerset led 5-4 at half-time on their way to a 7-6 victory. The second half was also very even with both teams scoring twice as Somerset squeezed out a win.

The MVP for Somerset was Tahj Wade who had a solid game in defence, while Philip Anderson was outstanding for St George’s, scoring two goals.

The third game was another close affair with newcomers Simplimente Futsal beating Talent FC 8-6.

Talent rebounded from their loss last week and had a much better game, though Simplimente led 4-2 at the half-time.

The teams were evenly matched 4-4 at half-time. Shaun Brown led the Simplimente scoring with four goals, while goalkeeper Justin Sousa was MVP for Talent, making a series of outstanding saves.

The last game of the evening, previously unbeaten C-Side Freestylers ran into a Hamilton Parish side who pressured and outplayed their younger counterparts, winning 9-5.

C-Side never got going as they trailed 4-2 at the interval. The second half was not much different with Parish continuing to frustrate their opponents, scoring five goals to C-Side’s three to hold on for a comfortable victory.

Parish’s Shakir Smith was their MVP after scoring a hat-trick, while Quinaceo Hunt was outstanding for C-Side.

The games continue on Saturday at the Bermuda College Gymnasium, starting from 6pm.
