Nahki Wells is hoping to return to action on Huddersfield Town’s pre-season tour to Austria.

Wells missed his team’s match against Premier League side Liverpool because of a knee injury but was in the 28-man squad which flew out to Fugen via Germany at the weekend.

The club’s top scorer last season with 18 goals sat out the Shankly Trophy match, which Huddersfield lost 2-0 thanks to goals from Marko Grujic and Alberto Moreno.

Wells had made a bright start to pre-season, scoring in his team’s 2-0 victory against League One side Rochdale in a behind-closed-doors friendly two weeks ago.

Huddersfield take on Werder Bremen tomorrow and Ingolstadt on Friday.

Huddersfield’s opening Sky Bet Championship game of the season is at home to Brentford on Saturday, August 6.

Rai Simons came on as a second-half substitute in Chesterfield’s 3-0 win in a pre-season friendly over his former team Ilkeston at the weekend.

The Bermuda striker had a good one-on-one chance but lobbed his effort just wide of the post.

Ritchie Humphries opened the scoring early in the second half after good work by Ched Evans, who then scored with a header moments later before substitute Joe Beasley completed the scoring.

Chesterfield are away to Oxford United in their opening League One game of the season.

Reggie Lambe was substituted after an hour as Carlisle United slipped to defeat in a pre-season friendly away to Barrow victory at the weekend.

Ross Hannah beat Mark Gillespie from the penalty spot midway through the second half after Carlisle captain Danny Grainger had fouled Byron Harrison.

Carlisle’s open their League Two campaign away to Portsmouth.

Danté Leverock’s Harrisburg City Islanders won their second successive match after a nine-game losing streak with a 1-0 victory away to Bethlehem Steel last Thursday.

Cardel Benbow’s cross from the right was met with a perfect finish by Brett Jankouskas midway through the second half to hand Harrisburg the win.
