Bermuda succumb to heavy defeat

The Bermuda Under-17 side suffered a 5-0 defeat in their final group game of the Caribbean Under-17 Championship in Trinidad and Tobago on Tuesday.

Bermuda needed to beat Haiti by a comfortable margin and hope that Trinidad suffered a heavy defeat against Jamaica in their final game in order to progress as the best third-place team. Having already lost their opening two games 6-2 to Jamaica and 3-2 to Trinidad, Bermuda finished bottom of group A without a point.

Haiti topped the group with seven points on goal difference ahead of Jamaica, who beat Trinidad 3-2 in their final match. Trinidad came third with three points.

From the eight-nation, two-group tournament, the top-five teams advance to the Concacaf Under-17 Championship to be held from April 21 to May 7 in Panama City.
