Social Club go top of First Division

On target: Clay Darrell

Young Men’s Social Club are top of the top of the First Division after a 3-1 win over Paget Lions at Southampton Oval at the weekend.

An own goal by Paget’s Kushae Hypolite in the 55th minute broke the deadlock before Lions equalised in the 69th minute through Demarlio Curtis.

Goals in the 76th and 90th minute by Clay Darrell and Cory Burgess gave Social Club their fifth straight win.

Second-place St David’s suffered their first defeat of the season when Dominique Hill’s 24th-minute goal gave Southampton Rangers a deserved 1-0 victory at Lord’s.

X-Roads joined Rangers on ten points, just two behind St David’s, with their 1-0 win over BAA on Saturday night at Goose Gosling Field where Nassir Richardson scored the 80th-minute winner.

Marcus Brangman missed a glorious chance to equalise late on for BAA, lifting his shot over the bar with the goal at his mercy after Seriko Thomas had hit the post.

Wolves thrashed Ireland Rangers 7-0, with George Dyer opening the scoring from the penalty spot in the 23rd minute before Raymond Butterfield doubled the lead ten minutes.

Kyle Brangman made it 3-0 in the 54th minute before Vince Minors added the fourth in the 74th, just a minute after Thomas Whitehead of Ireland Rangers was sent off for a second booking.

Three goals in the final five minutes enabled Wolves to finish the match with a flourish. Patrick Hayward added the fifth in the 85th minute before Dyer added his second in the 88th minute.

Mikeal Ming closed out the scoring in the 90th minute.

In the other match St George’s and Hamilton Parish drew 0-0 at Wellington Oval.
