Illness delays Bowen’s return home

Hospital treatment: Bowen, the Bermuda Under-20 defender, did not return to the island with the rest of his team-mates

Bermuda defender Zenawi Bowen was scheduled to arrive home from the Concacaf Under-20 Championship in Costa Rica last night.

The North Village player’s return was delayed after receiving hospital treatment after Bermuda’s 2-1 defeat against Costa Rica at the Estadio Nacional on Saturday because of an illness.

Bowen was substituted at half-time during Bermuda’s final group match. He returned to the team’s hotel but was later admitted to hospital and remained in Costa Rica along with Kimberly Bean, the Bermuda head of delegation, while the squad returned home on Sunday.

Bowen also came off late in Bermuda’s opener against Trinidad and Tobago at the Estadio Ricardo Saprissa.
