Nathan Trott, the Bermudian goalkeeper, was in impressive form during West Ham United Under-23’s 5-1 demolition of Slovak Super League club ViOn Zlate Moravce this week.

The former BAA and North Village goalkeeper made a string of saves on his return from international duty with England’s victorious European Under-19 Championship squad as West Ham Under-23s had things all their own way against their hosts.

“Nathan played his first game back after his success with England and he made some great stops late on,” Terry Westley, the West Ham academy director, told the East London club’s website.

Trott became the ninth West Ham player to win the European Under-19 Championship after England edged a Portugal side featuring the goalkeeper’s West Ham team-mate Domingos Quina 2-1 in the final in Georgia.

He was an unused substitute throughout the tournament but played his part on the training pitch, his inclusion in Keith Downing’s squad arriving just months after switching his international allegiance from Bermuda to England.

“My experience was great because I was in the best squad in Europe and to be involved and to make history is unreal,” Trott said.

Trott and his West Ham Under-23 team-mates encountered little resistance from hosts Zlate Moravce, with Jahmal Hector-Ingram, the striker, leading the charge with a hat trick.

Dan Kemp’s penalty and a brilliant finish by Grady Diangana accounted for the visitors’ remaining tallies.

“It was an outstanding display, following on from our victory at Dagenham & Redbridge on Saturday afternoon,” Westley said.

“Our goals were all superb, with Jahmal back to his best with three fine finishes, a penalty from Dan Kemp and a good goal from Grady Diangana, who was very good on the night.

“We played the way we want to play, with really dangerous forward play and our great movement and passing helping to open up their defence time after time.”

West Ham Under-23s will spend the remainder of the week training in Slovakia before returning to England to take on ambitious Isthmian League club Billericay Town at the Essex side’s AGP Arena next Tuesday.

The young Hammers will host Everton in their 2017-18 Premier League 2 opener on August 11.
