Andrew Bascome and Kenny Thompson have struck up a “coaching partnership” at First Division side Bermuda Athletic Association.

Bascome has joined forces with Thompson, the BAA director of football, who leads the club’s programme which is affiliated with the World Sport Academy UE Cornellà Programme.

Thompson said that Bascome will be helping coach the club’s senior team.

The pair are widely regarded as the top coaches on the island and have both coached Bermuda. They also have strong links with Spanish clubs; Thompson with Catalan sides Barcelona and UE Cornellà and Bascome with Valencia.

BAA will be aiming for promotion this season as well as looking for a third straight First Division Shield title.

Bascome, who runs the ABC Football School where he coaches youngsters at Saltus Grammar School and Victor Scott Primary School, assisted Kwame Steede at Dandy Town Hornets last season.

Steede succeeded former coach Jomar Wilkinson who left the club under controversial circumstances midway through the campaign. Wilkinson, who won plenty of silverware during his time at Town, has since been appointed as coach of BAA’s First Division rivals Southampton Rangers, where Bascome has also agreed to share his wealth of knowledge with the club’s youth coaches.

Bascome, a former Robin Hood and Devonshire Cougars coach, stepped down as the Bermuda coach last week after five years at the helm.

He oversaw a World Cup and two Caribbean Cup qualifying campaigns, and was also involved with the under-15, under-17 and under-20 sides.

n Tahj Wade has been reunited with former Somerset Trojans team-mate Dion Stovell at First Division Paget Lions.

Sources have confirmed that the forward’s services have been secured for the upcoming season. Stovell signed for childhood club Paget from Premier Division Trojans last season.

Meanwhile, other notable players on the move are defenders George Dyer and Rico Trott who have both signed for Dandy Town.

Dyer has rejoined Town after a stint at First Division outfit Wolves while Trott has signed from Hornets’ crosstown rivals Boulevard.

Town have been busy bolstering their squad having also snapped up last season’s Premier Division MVP Ian Coke from Boulevard, goalkeeper Troy Hall from PHC Zebras and Keimon Simmons from Rangers.
