Town aiming to breach the Zebras’ watertight defence

Tough task: Angelo Simmons, of Dandy Town, could have his work cut out against PHC's defence this weekend

PHC Zebras’ perfect record will be under threat when they host Dandy Town in the Premier Division on Sunday.

The Zebras have four league and cup wins this season, without conceding a goal, and thrashed Flanagan’s Onions 9-0 in their opening league match at Goose Gosling Field last weekend.

However, Town will be eager to bounce back from their opening league defeat away to Robin Hood, with strike pair Angelo Simmons and Ian Coke looking to test PHC’s watertight defence.

Somerset Trojans will aim to open their scoring account when they welcome Boulevard to the West End. The Trojans lost both their Dudley Eve Trophy games 4-0 to North Village and Robin Hood, although they did draw 0-0 away to Young Men’s Social Club, who marked their return to the top flight after 37 years.

Devonshire Cougars, who beat X-Roads 2-0 at Garrison Field last weekend, face newly promoted Social Club at Police Field, while X-Roads host Hood.

In Saturday’s match at Goose Gosling Field, Flanagan’s Onions will hope for a big improvement when they meet Village.

Village have reached the Dudley Eve semi-finals on November 2, and beat Boulevard 2-1 at Bernard Park last weekend.

Saturday’s opening match will pit BAA against Hamilton Parish in the First Division at 7pm. BAA began their season with a 5-0 home win over Ireland Rangers. On Sunday, Southampton Rangers are at home to St David’s, while St George’s face Ireland Rangers at Wellington Oval.

Somerset Eagles and Devonshire Colts, last season’s two relegated sides, play host to Paget Lions and Wolves, respectively.

Colts, with Quinton Jones taking over as coach, had a 2-2 draw with Rangers, while Eagles lost 3-0 at home to St David’s, who have Sergio Goater as their coach this season.
