The Bermuda Under-17 women’s team beat Jamaica 3-2 in their must-win match in the Concacaf Caribbean Women’s Under-17 qualifying tournament in Haiti yesterday.

Goals from Leilani Nesbeth, Nia Christopher and Adia Gibbons gave Bermuda a 3-0 lead at the interval before Jamaica pulled two goals back after the break. Coach Aaron Denkins’s side, who drew their opening game 2-2 with Trinidad & Tobago on Monday, are top of group F on four points.

Trinidad and Jamaica meet in the final group match tomorrow, with the group F winners advancing to the Concacaf Championship final in Nicaragua next year. The two second-placed teams meet each other on Sunday in the third-place play-off to decide the third qualifier ahead of the final between the two group winners.

Also playing in the qualifiers are host nation Haiti, Cuba and Puerto Rico in group G.

Canada, Mexico and the United States are automatic qualifiers along with the host nation Nicaragua and the Central American zone winners.
