Butterfield the latest Bermudian at Rushall

On the move: Butterfield has joined Rushall Olympic on a month's loan

Milan Butterfield, the Walsall Under-23 midfielder, has joined Bermuda Under-20 team-mate Jahquil Hill at Evo-Stik Northern Premier side Rushall Olympic on a one-month loan.

It is the second time this season that Butterfield has been loaned out, having made five appearances for Leamington on another month-long temporary transfer.

“I think my spell with Leamington has prepared me for my next loan because I’m playing men’s football again, so this is a really good chance for me to express myself,” Butterfield told the Rushall website. “I was there for a month and enjoyed myself — the biggest difference was it was much faster and a bit tougher.

“We’re there for a month and I spoke to [new Rushall manager] Liam McDonald last night — he seems like a nice person!

“Rushall are a good team and look like a passing team — that will suit me as well.”

Butterfield and Hill grew up playing youth football together and were also members of Bermuda’s squad that competed at February’s Concacaf Caribbean Under-20 Championship in Costa Rica.

“Milan and I are like brothers,” Hill said. “We grew up playing together at United FC and his father [Casey Butterfield] was my coach during my whole time playing youth football in Bermuda.

“Milan coming on loan is a great boost to Rushall’s team. This is a huge, huge positive.”

Butterfield has made several appearances for Walsall’s Under-23s this term, scoring in a 3-2 victory away to Lye Town in the Birmingham Senior Cup last month.

The 19-year old helped Walsall’s Under-23s win the Central League North West Division and Walsall Senior Cup last season.

Also joining Rushall on a month’s loan is Jordon Sangha, the Walsall Under-23 captain.

Both Butterfield and Sangha will be available for Rushall’s home game today against Marine.

Butterfield was Walsall’s first signing of the summer 2016 transfer window after being recommended to the club by former Saddler and fellow countryman Kyle Lightbourne.
