BAA got back to winning ways to retain top spot in the First Division with an emphatic 4-0 drubbing of St George’s Colts at Wellington Oval.

The visitors, who suffered their first defeat of the season against Paget Lions in their previous outing last weekend, took the lead early in the second half through Tyrell Burgess’s penalty after St George’s were penalised for a foul in the box.

Burgess then doubled BAA’s advantage shortly after when he scored from a free kick from outside of the box.

The match ended as a contest when Willie Clemons finished off a quick break after defending a corner to make it 3-0 before Morricko Iris got his name onto the scoresheet to cap the visitors’ dominant display.

BAA are level on points with second placed Paget Lions but ahead of their nearest rivals on goal difference.

Lions kept the pressure on BAA with a 3-0 home win over winless Wolves at Southampton Oval.

The hosts went ahead when striker Dion Stovell’s shot rebounded off the goalkeeper and struck a defender before crossing the line.

Tahj Welch doubled Paget’s lead when he latched onto a through ball and slotted home.

Demarlo Curtis then came off the substitutes’ bench to make the points safe with a superb solo effort, after being played through by another defence-splitting pass.

Also level on points with BAA and Paget are St David’s Warriors who edged winless Hamilton Parish 2-1 at Lord’s to retain third spot on goal difference behind Lions.

Southampton Rangers held onto fourth spot after thrashing winless Ireland Rangers 7-2 at Malabar Field.

At White Hill Field, Somerset Eagles came from behind to beat Devonshire Colts 4-1 and climb two places in the standings from seventh to fifth.

The visitors took the lead in the second half before Eagles hit back with four unanswered goals from Cordell Henry, Shentoine Lambert Jahkhari Hollis and Kanhai Fray.
