In it to win it: Cougars, the defending champions, take on North Village in the Friendship Trophy semi-finals at Goose Gosling Field next Wednesday

The Premier Division’s two top teams have been pitted against each other in the Friendship Trophy semi-finals at PHC Field on Boxing Day.

PHC Zebras, the league leaders, will face second-place Hood in a mouth-watering cup tie, while Devonshire Cougars, the holders, have been drawn against North Village, which will take place the next day in a floodlit clash at Goose Gosling Field.

PHC, unbeaten this season and three points clear at the top of the table, have been wholly dominant and captured the first piece of silverware, the Dudley Eve Trophy, with a 3-0 win over Cougars in the final.

They also bloodied Hood’s nose in the league last month, scoring three goals in five minutes to beat the defending Premier Division champions 5-2 in their own backyard.

Cougars, who beat PHC in last season’s final, will head into their tie brimming the confidence after a 4-0 home win over Flanagan’s Onions in the quarter-finals at the weekend, although they will come up against a resurgent Village who beat Dandy Town 3-2 in their quarter-final.

In the First Divison Shield, holders BAA take on Southampton Rangers at PHC Field on Boxing Day, while Paget Lions face Wolves at Goose Gosling Field the next day.
