Danté Leverock hopes to reignite his professional career in the unlikely destination of Estonia, where he is on trial at top-flight club Narva Trans.

The Bermuda defender was recommended to the team after impressing at a Pro Soccer Academy combine in Florida and is looking forward to returning to a professional environment.

It has been 18 months since Leverock previously played professionally at United States club Harrisburg City Islanders, where he spent two seasons before joining English non-League side Ilkeston midway through last season.

The 25-year-old, who left the island on Wednesday, says he is confident of adapting to a different style of football, as well as the harsh weather conditions in the Eastern European country, as he strives to win a deal.

“I attracted interest from various clubs and Tom Taylor [the director of Pro Soccer Academy], who places players from combines, recommended me to Narva Trans, as they needed a centre back,” Leverock told The Royal Gazette.

“I’m excited for a new challenge and I’m looking forward to getting back to work in the professional environment. I don’t know much about the style of play, but I’m sure when I arrive I’ll be able to adapt.

“Anywhere in the world, professional football comes down to hard work and intelligence, and I feel I have those qualities.”

The possibility of playing European football is another incentive for Leverock to impress at Narva Trans, who finished fifth in the Meistriliiga last term.

Three teams from the Estonian top flight qualify for the Europa League each season.

“To have the chance of playing European football is a dream you have as kid,” said Leverock, who started the season at Premier Division side Robin Hood.

“To play in any European competition is something I want to achieve. I know it’s going to be a bit cold, but it’s nothing I can’t handle.

“I’m just looking forward to getting back into professional football and I’m grateful for the opportunity.”

Narva Trans, who have never been relegated, are in the midst of their pre-season winter tournament.

They are away to Tammeka Tartu tonight in their seventh match of the tournament, having drawn three and lost three games.
