Nathan Trott is on the verge of a remarkable hat-trick.

The Bermuda goalkeeper has kept clean sheets in his two appearances for England Under-20s and can make it three in a row, should he feature in friendlies away to Poland and at home to Portugal this month.

Trott has been named in Keith Downing’s 19-man squad to face Poland next Thursday in Bielsku-Bialej and Portugal at Manchester City’s Academy Stadium on March 27.

“It’s always good to be selected to represent England,” Trott told The Royal Gazette. “It’s a proud moment every time and one of the biggest compliments you can get as a footballer.

“It’s always good to test yourself because international football is different from club football, and Portugal and Poland are top countries to test myself against.”

The West Ham United Under-23 player made his England Under-20 debut in a 3-0 win away to Holland last August and kept another clean sheet in 4-0 thrashing of the Czech Republic at St George’s Park two months later.

“As a keeper, it always feels great to keep a clean sheet so it’s always a good feeling,” Trott said. “I’ve got a great team and amazing defence, so it makes everything more simple for me.”

The former BAA player returns to the England Under-20 set-up after being ruled out of last November’s friendly away to Germany after originally being named in Downing’s squad. He was injured playing for West Ham Under-23 in their Checkatrade Trophy game away to Bristol City.

Trott has already enjoyed international success as he was a part of the England Under-19 squad that won last summer’s European Championship in Georgia.

The 19-year-old has established himself as the No 1 for West Ham Under-23 and has also been named in David Moyes’s first-team squad this season.
