Social Club fight back
Social Club 3 St David’s 2
Young Men’s Social Club enjoyed a come-from-behind victory over St David’s at North Field, National Sports Centre yesterday.
Jahmir Lewis-Trott swept in Phillip Mallory’s cross at the near post to settle the game.
St David’s would have felt hard done by given the amount of chances they wasted.
However, credit must be given to Social Club for the manner in which they stuck to their task, despite having to come from behind twice. Diego McCallan got St David’s off to a flying start after meeting a cross and lashing into the roof of the net.
St David’s had the ball in the net again after McCallan intercepted a poor pass by Donovan Adams, the Social Club goalkeeper, but the effort was ruled offside. Social Club equalised shortly after losing their defender Khylais Rawlings, who was injured in an aerial challenge.
Striker Nique Armstrong made a run into St David’s terrain before unleashing a shot into the top corner. The home side wasted a opportunity to go ahead when Rawlings’s replacement Psalm Darrell placed a header wide from a corner. St David’s nearly regained the lead after the break when Wolde Jones hit the post. However, St David’s substitute Jamal Woodley squeezed in a rebound that bounced off the crossbar. Kenneth Butterfield brought the teams level from the penalty spot after Jones fouled Mallory before Lewis-Trott’s clinical finish put the home side in front for the first time.
