Robin Hood stamped their authority early on as they ran out to a lopsided victory over Boulevard at Lord’s yesterday.

Hood opened the scoring in the sixteenth minute after Lejuan Simmons chased down a long ball. Simmons fed a deft pass to Tomeiko Goater who controlled and slotted past Boulevard goalkeeper Ronniko Burchall.

Boulevard tried to step up their game immediately after the Hood strike. However, a slew of errant passes and poor finishing robbed them of climbing back into contention.

Hood continued their relentless assault on Boulevard, attacking their defence at will. They were rewarded with their second tally in the 34th minute, courtesy of an opportunistic strike from Shakir Smith after a poor clearance by the Boulevard. Undaunted by Smith’s goal, Boulevard continued their scrappy play, but it became increasingly evident that they lacked cutting-edge.

Boulevard saw a golden chance to score at the start of the second half when Clay Darrell raced in one-on-one against Hood goalkeeper Dale Eve.

Eve managed to strip Darrell of the ball at the last second to nullify Boulevard’s threat. A minute later, Ian Coke watched helplessly as his effort sailed high over the crossbar as he was put through. Insult to injury visited Boulevard in the 61st minute after an own goal by Jakio Williams. A Hood cross ricocheted off his boot and nestled inside the upright.

Ian Coke, Boulevard’s player-coach, said, “We played hard throughout the game, but we were repeatedly unlucky in the final third of the pitch. We’ve also got to find a way to start sorting out our defensive set pieces. We’re working hard in practice where we are trying to sharpen up things in terms of transitioning out of defence and moving the ball upfield. Our defence is a little leaky at the moment, but we’ll continue to work on this aspect of our game.”
